Rehabilitation and comprehensive renovation of the old AC Diplomatic Hotel for the creation of the Barcelona Renaissance Hotel. The building was adapted to the standards of Marriott International under the Renaissance brand guidelines, one of the most representative 5 star hotel brands in the world.
Renovation of the whole building.
Creation and design of all guest areas: 211 rooms, public spaces, Lobby, Lounge bar, outdoor terrace bar, restaurant, gym and meeting rooms.
Scope, Challenges and Accomplished Objectives
- Project Management was conducted to Marriott International, with the complexity of project group coordination (national and international) located in Washington, Paris, London and Frankfurt. English was the project’s language.
- Assistance in the development of both technical services and construction contracts in Spain.
- Project management, assessment, estimates, cost & billing control.
- Works execution in 4 and half months. 2 M € / month production. Short-term project development and completion of works (50 rooms / 4 weeks). Working three shifts a day for 7 days a week without altering the hotel’s normal functioning and customer services.
- Logistical support and control for delivery of FF&E and equipment coordination with the Hotel operations.
- Technical deficiencies Solutions. Inclusion of existing closed basements and building legalization to carry on business according to the municipal regulations.
- The building, a special complex of L’Eixample Cerdà, is located in a qualified and protected by heritage urban sector.
