Antoni Rovira Trias 1859’s historical modernist building is situated between the areas of Raval and Eixample. It consists of three markets in one: an indoor space for fresh goods (180 stalls); the Encants, dedicated mainly to textiles (300 stalls), and a book market on Sunday mornings; making it the biggest market in the city of Barcelona.
Renovation will allow, apart from its architectonic transformation, the construction of 3 underground areas that will host a loading and unloading area with storage facilities to help ease the activity, two large areas for large commercial surfaces and parking. This will get rid of the overcrowding and obstacles that this activity caused the market.
Scope, Challenges and Accomplished Objectives
